PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (1-1-2) returns to the Steel City to battle Hartford Athletic (0-5-0) in its home opener at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Highmark Stadium.
Game Notes
As the Hounds march through the early stages of their 20th anniversary season, the April 13 date has special significance, as the team's first-ever home game at Highmark Stadium took place on April 13, 2013. This season's home opener will mark the six-year anniversary of the first-ever match at the venue.
The Hounds enter their home opener on a one-game winning streak, defeating two-time reigning champion Louisville City FC on April 6. In home openers, the Black and Gold have a streak of two draws, tying Penn FC in 2018 and New York Red Bulls II in 2017.
Meanwhile, Hartford is still looking for its first win in USL Championship play. The USL newcomer carries a five-game losing streak into its match against Pittsburgh. Saturday's game will mark Hartford's sixth of an eight-game road stretch to open its inaugural season.
Prior to the club's home opener kickoff on Saturday, 93.7 The Fan will present a Black and Gold tailgate at Highmark Stadium. The first 500 children 12 years old and younger receive a free stadium cup for a free soft drink, courtesy of 93.7 The Fan. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m., and the Hounds will offer $1 beers up until 7 p.m. kickoff.
In addition, the first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive a free schedule magnet courtesy of K-Love.
