Flint Firebirds News Release

Barrie, Ont. - The Firebirds begin a three-games in five-days road trip Thursday when the club faces the Barrie Colts. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. (ET) at Colts Centre (capacity 4,195).

Saturday night marks the first of four regular-season meetings between these clubs this campaign, and the only time they'll meet in Barrie. All-time, the Firebirds hold a record of 1-8-0-0 in games against the Colts. The 'Birds are 1-4-0-0 in Barrie. Last season Flint finished with an overall record of 1-1-0-0 versus the Colts, with the victory being on the road.

The last time these teams met in Barrie was February 9 when the 'Birds earned their first-ever victory over the Colts. Jake Durham, Ethan Keppen (Vancouver Canucks), Cody Morgan and Evan Vierling each recorded two-point games that evening. Jason Willms and Ryan Suzuki (Carolina Hurricanes) scored for the Colts, and Tyler Tucker (St. Louis Blues) logged two assists to lead Barrie's offense.

Of note, the Firebirds called up forward Zacharie Giroux from the Rayside Balfour Canadians and goaltender Peyton Grainer from Detroit Belle Tire AAA. Giroux has the chance to make his OHL career debut Thursday in Barrie. Flint will be without Vladislav Kolyachonok and Evgeniy Oksentyuk for the road trip, both are with Team Belarus at the World Junior Championships, Division IA. Barrie is the hometown of Flint Firebirds' defenseman Dennis Busby.
