INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Comets (14-3) return to action this Friday when they visit Eastern Division Champion Baltimore Blast (13-2) at the Royal Farms Arena in the second of a three-game road trip. The match, which will kick off at 6:35 p.m. CT will be streamed live on Go Live Sports Cast.
Coach Vlatko Andonovski's team is one victory away from clinching the Central Division title for the second consecutive season. Having defeated Chicago on two occasions, Missouri holds the tiebreaker heading into the playoffs.
For the second week in a row, a Comets player was voted MASL Player of the Week. After a stellar performance last week in Milwaukee and climbing up the table to second place in the league standings, goalkeeper Boris Pardo earned his first honors of the season.
Both teams will be meeting for the second time this year. On Sunday, January 31the Blast were unable to leave the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena with a win as the Comets pulled off a nail biting 6-4 win. The Blast will return to Independence, MO for the regular season finale next Saturday, February 27 at 7:35 p.m. CT. In addition, Baltimore leads the All-time series 12-4.
The Baltimore Blast are led by forward Vini Dantas with 30 points off of 20 goals and 10 assists. However, he is listed as probable after suffering a toe injury. Missouri's only absence will be midfielder Milan Ivanovic who is still recovering from an ankle injury.
Team captain Vahid Assadpour remains second in the league standings with 45 points. Along with teammate Lucas Rodriguez, both midfielders lead the team in goals with 19.
Defensively, the match will feature the league's top goalkeepers. William Vanzela remains at the top of the standings with a 2.81 GAA and a .809 save percentage, while Pardo follows with a 4.69 GAA and a .709 save percentage.
