February 18, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Americans will hold a pregame open skate for fans on Sunday, Feb. 21 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. prior to the Amerks game versus the Wilkes-Barre-Scranton Penguins at 5:05 p.m. as part of Kids Day presented by I Love NY. Following the game, The Distillery will host a postgame party at the restaurant's Winton Road location.
The open skate is free of charge, although a ticket to Sunday's game is required. Those attending can enter The Blue Cross Arena and proceed to the left of the escalator in the lower atrium. Fans will have to bring their own helmets and skates, as rental skates will not be available, and skaters age 12 and under must wear a helmet.
Amerks players will stop by The Distillery, located at 3010 Winton Road South, following the game for a postgame party as fans are invited to join in. The Distillery will offer a variety of great food and drink specials while Amerks prizes will be given away throughout the party.
As part of Kids Day presented by I Love NY, all kids tickets (ages 12 and under) for the Feb. 21 game can be purchased for just $5, with adult tickets available for as low as $12, by visiting www.amerks.com/kidsday or calling 1-855-GO-AMERKS. The day's family-friendly festivities will also include a Bounce House, Face-Painters, Balloon Animals and other activities for kids. In addition, 2,000 kids in attendance will receive an Amerks folder courtesy of Wendy's.
The Amerks longtime mascot, the Moose, will be celebrating his birthday during the game and has invited many of his mascot friends to join him, including Billy Buffalo, Sabretooth, Otto the Orange and many more. The mascots will also be in attendance to mingle with fans, pose for pictures and compete in intermission activities on the ice. There will also be a special Ice Cream-Eating contest sponsored by Perry's Ice Cream.
As part of USA Hockey's Hockey Weekend Across America initiative, Sunday is also "Celebrate Local Hockey Heroes Day," and the Amerks will be celebrating the life of Patrick Carr, the local youth hockey player who inspired the Rochester community during his courageous battle with cancer. To honor Patrick's memory, the Amerks will wear "Li'l Fighter" decals on their helmets during the game.
All registered USA Hockey youth members can receive a complimentary ticket to the game by visiting www.amerks.com/hwaa. In addition, that website can also be used to make donations to Golisano Children's Hospital in Patrick's name.
To purchase tickets to an upcoming Amerks game, visit www.amerks.com or call 1-855-GO-AMERKS.
