Orlando Predators News Release
Orlando, FL - After 13 weeks of AFL play, the Orlando Predators sit at the bottom of the American Conference South Division after losing to the Philadelphia Soul on Saturday night. The Predators lost the second matchup of the season to the Soul, 48-79, moving their overall record to 1-10 for the 2012 season. This week, the Predators travel to San Jose to take on the SaberCats on Friday, June 8. The game kicks off at 10:30 p.m. from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, and will broadcast live online at OrlandoPredators.com/Live.
After giving up a season high 79 points in their Week 13 matchup against the Philadelphia Soul, the Predators defense will have to be on point in their matchup against San Jose. The SaberCats have one of the strongest offenses in the AFL, currently ranked first in total offense, second in scoring, second in passing, and first in the AFL in first downs. SaberCats quarterback Mark Grieb has been one of the best in the AFL so far this season. Through 13 weeks, Grieb has completed 324 passes for 3,908 yards, and 79 touchdowns. He currently ranks second in passing yards a game and second in the AFL in total offense.
The Orlando offense will have to play just as well in order to help the Predators win their first road game of the 2012 season. In their Week 13 matchup against the Philadelphia Soul, Predators wide receiver Jarvis Williams had his most productive game of the season. Williams caught 10 passes for 99 yards, and hauled in four touchdown passes. Look for Williams to continue to be an offensive threat for the team for the rest of the season.
The Predator offense will also have to work on limiting their turnovers in order to have a shot at winning their Week 14 matchup against the SaberCats. Against Philadelphia, Predators quarterback Chris Leak tossed three interceptions that resulted in three touchdowns scored for the Soul offense. In three games as the starter for the Predators this season, Leak has thrown 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Up next the Predators will return home to The Jungle for their second "War on I-4" matchup of the season against the Tampa Bay Storm on Friday, June 15. The Storm captured the first game of the rivalry, winning 55-31 in Week 9. The 8 p.m. game will broadcast live on NFL Network.
