Harrell Named AFL's #2 Best All-Time Receiver

MILWAUKEE (June 6, 2012) - The Milwaukee Mustangs are excited to announce that former Mustangs wide receiver and current wide receivers/special teams assistant coach, Damian Harrell, has been ranked No. 2 on the Arena Football League's recent list of the top 25 wide receivers in league history.
With an exceptional 12-year AFL career, Harrell became the record-holder for most receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns in league history. He had nine seasons where he had at least 1,000 yards receiving, which is another AFL record. He finished his stellar career with the Mustangs, hauling in 177 receptions for 2,089 yards and 37 touchdowns over the course of the 2010 and 2011 seasons.
Harrell made his mark on the league as a member of the Colorado Crush during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. He was named the AFL offensive player of the year and selected first-team all-arena each season, and amassed a career-high 152 receptions for 1,920 yards and an AFL record 60 touchdown receptions in 2006.
"I wasn't really thinking about Arena Football (when I joined the Sea Wolves)," said Harrell, when interviewed at the end of the 2011 season. "I just wanted to go somewhere where I could get some feel, and try to get to the next level. I just ended up making a career out of it. The first two years I wondered if this was something that I wanted to do. I was really tested. After the third year I kind of realized that this could possibly something I could do (for a while)."
The Florida State product began his career in 1999 with the AFL's New England Sea Wolves and spent two years with the team before signing with the Toronto Phantoms and becoming a rising star with 190 receptions, 2,617 yards, and 39 touchdowns over two seasons.
