
Predators sign four Admirals

Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has signed Vern Fiddler, Libor Pivko, and Jerred Smithson, all of whom played for the Milwaukee Admirals last season. Poile also announced that the team had signed former Admiral goaltender Chris Mason.
Fiddler, 25 (5/9/80), notched 20 goals, 22 assists and a team-high +19 rating in 73 games this past season for the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League. The 5-11, 204-pound Edmonton, Alta. native was also a member of the 2004 AHL Calder Cup Champion Admirals. He has notched six points (4g-2a) in 36 career NHL games with Nashville and was originally signed as a free agent by the Predators on May 6, 2002.
Pivko, 25 (3/29/80), posted 20 points (5g-15a) in 56 games with Milwaukee this past season. The 6-3, 214-pound left winger was also a member of the 2004 Calder Cup Champs and ranked third on that club with seven playoff goals. The Novy Vicin, Czech Republic native has appeared in one NHL contest with Nashville (Nov. 24, 2003 at Colorado). He was originally Nashville's fourth choice, 89th overall (third round), in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
Smithson, 26 (2/4/79), recorded 11 goals and 11 assists (11g-11a-22pts) in a team-high 80 games for Milwaukee in 2004-05. The 6-3, 194-pound center, who signed as a free agent last summer, posted three assists and 25 penalty minutes in 30 NHL games with the Los Angeles Kings in 2002-03 and 2003-04.
Mason, 29 (4/20/76), went 4-4-1 with a 2.18 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage in 17 games with Nashville in 2003-04. Mason is 4-5-1 with a 2.41 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage in 21 career NHL games with Nashville. The Red Deer, ALTA native spent parts of five seasons with the Admirals from 1998-2004 posting a 70-68-26 mark in 173 games including a 10 shutouts.
