Fresh Faces on Fresh Ice:

· Ottawa 67's import defenceman Michal Cajkovsky will be donning a 67's barberpole for the first time today. The rugged Slovakian was acquired from early this summer for a 2012 3rd round pick. Cajkovsky is listed at 6'3, 205 lbs but it looks like he's grown an inch and put on another 10 lbs of muscle over the summer.

· Joining Cajkovsky in his debut will be 67's 2011 Priority Selection Draft first round pick (17th overall) David Perklin. Perklin, a Mississauga native, is 6'2 and 190 pound left winger who spent last season with the Toronto Marlies (GTHL) where he led his team to an OHL Showcase Cup championship, registering 6 points (1g, 5a).

· Ryan Van Stralen, who hails from nearby Prescott will be patrolling the wing for the 67's this season. Van Stralen, spent last season with the Smiths Falls Bears where he collected 52 points (24g, 28a) in 60 contests.

Game Notes:

Home Grown Products

Both Ottawa and Quebec feature a variety of players from our region. Quebec features four of them, including forward Michael McNamee of Perth. He is joined by defenceman Owen Werthner from Ottawa, right wing Mikael Gervais from Gatineau and goaltender Francois Brassard who's also from Gatineau. The 67's have Van Stralen from Prescott and defenceman Cody Ceci from Orleans.

Saint Patrick

Behind the bench the Remparts are led by legendary NHL goalie and hall of famer Patrick Roy. Roy, whose number 33 was retired by both the Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche, won Stanley Cups in each of his NHL cities. He has three Conn Smythe trophies, five William M. Jennings trophies and three Vezina trophies. The 11 time NHL All-Star and 2006 Memorial Cup winning coach is also famous for answering a criticism from Jeremy Roenick with the phrase, "I can't really hear what Jeremy's saying because I've got my two Stanley Cup Rings in my ears."

From Russia with Love

The Remparts feature rookie Russian import Mikhail Grigorenko who is touted as a potential first round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Grigorenko, who spent last season with CSKA-Krasnaja Armija Moskva (MHL), tallied 35 points (17g, 18a) in 42 games. He has also shown his skills level at the international level, representing Russia at the World Under 18 Tournament where he picked up 18 points (4g, 14a) in 7 games, leading Russia to a bronze medal.

Talent Show

Both the 67's and Remparts boast players who have been drafted by NHL clubs in recent years, the 67's have six players drafted and Quebec counters with Louis Domingue between the pipes.

Summer Vacation'

For many of us, the summer is a time to relax and enjoy some time at the cottage but not for the 67's Sean Monahan and Cody Ceci. Monahan represented Canada at the Ivan Hlinka Tournament where he scored a goal in Canada's 5-1 win over Sweden in the Gold Medal game. Ceci participated in the World Under 18 Tournament in Germany helping Canada to a fourth place finish. He recently helped out the NHL at their annual Research and Development camp, participating in a variety of possible rule and game change implementation scrimmages in Toronto under the watchful eyes of NHL general managers. Good timing for Ceci since this is his draft year.
