2021 Canadian Premier League Season Summary
Record: 0-0-0
Head Coach: Pa-Modou Kah
Pacific FC 2021 Summary: Pacific FC looks forward to a third season in the Canadian Premier League after a fifth-place finish in the inaugural season and a fourth place in the 2021 CPL Island Games. Coach Pa-Modou Kah's Westcoast squad is young and eager. Pa's energy and leadership displayed in his 2020 coaching debut attracted new international talent and retained key players from last year.
Fans are confident the side will continue to be one of the most exciting attacking clubs in the league. There is goalscoring magic to be discovered in the foursome of Aparicio, Blasco, Bustos and DÃ-az. Bustos will be hungry, after a stellar performance at the Island Games. He now returns to his hometown of Winnipeg to kick off the new season.
Former York United Aparicio is a creative addition to the squad at midfield complimenting DÃ-az who spent his early career with Club América, one of the biggest pro clubs in Mexico. A note to Blasco fans, he has not traveled with the team to Winnipeg and is currently with his family in Spain.
New Pacific signings include Northern Ireland international Ollie Bassett. The 23- year-old attacking midfielder brings a wealth of experience from not only English National League sides, but also the New Zealand Premiership.
Other signings include defenders Duran Lee and Jordan Haynes, midfielders Matteo Polisi and Sean Young, and attackers Josh Heard, Kunle Dada-Luke, and Gianni Dos Santos.
Victoria locals Josh Heard and Sean Young are sure to become crowd favourites once they return to their home pitch Starlight Stadium on Vancouver Island. Heard is known for his speed and Young, truly the youngest on the team at 20, is known for his size and skill.
Coach Kah welcomed Chris Lee and Victory Shumbusho from the 2021 CPL U- Sports draft. The two players add to the youthful glow on the pitch, Lee on the backline and Shumbusho up front. McNaughton and TMG will continue their partnership after playing lots of minutes together last season.
Pacific FC had a change of captain in early 2021 with Jamar Dixon now in the leadership role.
