Bloomington PrairieThunder News Release

A wise old hockey sage once remarked that you have to win your games in hand. The Bloomington PrairieThunder did just that on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Fort Wayne Komets 4-2 to once again close to within four points of the second place Rapid City Rage. As both Rapid City and Colorado were idle today, the PrairieThunder (35-20-6) picked up an important two points on both of the front runners. Heading into the final week of the regular season, Bloomington still has three games in hand on both Rapid City and Colorado.

Jason Dale put the PThunder ahead 1-0 only :25 seconds into the game. For Dale, it was his 17th goal of the season. After the Komets took a 2-1 lead, Travis Granbois scored his 11th of the year at 19:04 of the first period. It would be Jon Booras with the game winner at 3:15 of the second period. For the veteran Booras it was his 19th lamp lighter. And John Snowden would close out the scoring with his 17th of the campaign with an empty net goal with :25 seconds left in the game. Captain Jason Deleurme added two assists for the victors. Goaltender Brad Phillips got his eleventh win of the year stopping 28 of 30 Komets (29-26-7) shots. The PrairieThunder's "Magic Number" to clinch home ice in the first round of the CHL playoffs is now five.
