Bloomington PrairieThunder News Release

The Bloomington PrairieThunder just missed sweeping all the weekly individual honors handed out by the International Hockey League on Monday as three of its players took home one of four honors.

IHL officials announced that Don Parsons was named the National City Forward of the Week for a second time this year, while Rod Aldoff earned the Pepsi Defenseman of the Week and Loic Lacasse received the Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week honors for a second time.

Parsons finished the week with five goals in four games to help the PrairieThunder compile a 2-1-0-1 record and earn five of a possible eight points in the standings.

After scoring only two goals during the previous 12-game stretch, Parsons had one goal against Fort Wayne in two separate games and a hat trick against Muskegon. It marked only the third hat trick in franchise history and all three goals came in the first period. The goals (two on power plays and one even-strength) came with a span of 12:32.

Parsons is the team's leading scorer with 47 points on 23 goals and 24 assists.

Aldoff earned the defensive award by scoring four points in four games, including a personal season-high three points against Muskegon in a 5-3 win. He had two assists on power plays and scored an empty-net goal. He has scored 10 points since joining the team 16 games ago.

Lacasse earned his second Goaltender of the Week award by posting a 1-1-0-1 record in three games. He had a 2.54 goals against average, allowing only seven goals in 165 minutes. He stopped 87 of 94 shots for a .926 save percentage.

He currently leads the IHL in saves with 880 and is third in minutes played with 1724:14. Lacasse has a 10-14-1-2 overall record.

The weekly honor for Lacasse was actually his third this season. He was named the Rookie of the Week earlier this year. To date, PrairieThunder players have received weekly honors nine times.

The PrairieThunder returns to action Tuesday with a 7:05 p.m. game against Flint at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The two teams meet again Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. in Bloomington.
