Fury Finish Week 1-2-0-0

MUSKEGON - Mother Nature shortened the week for the Muskegon Fury, who did not play Sunday due to poor road conditions and finished the week 1-2-0-0.
The Fury opened the week Wednesday in Port Huron, suffering a 4-1 loss to the Ice Hawks. Due to injuries and a suspension, the Fury had just 13 skaters for the game, four defensemen and nine forwards. Port Huron took the lead with two goals in the second period just over a minute apart, but Muskegon came back with a goal 5 minutes and 45 seconds into the third from Justin Rohr with an assist to Kyle Kos. Muskegon was poised to do more damage when they went on the power play at 8:18, but it was Port Huron's Rich Hansen who did the damage instead, scoring a short-handed goal at 9:52 that broke the Fury's momentum. Hansen added another goal late in the contest to put it away. Clayton Pool stopped 41 of the 45 shots he faced in net, taking the loss for Muskegon.
Friday at Bloomington, Fury captain Dave VanDrunen struck for two goals in the second period, his second and third tallies of the year, as the Fury held on for a 4-3 win over the Prairie Thunder. Billy Collins and Mike Watt scored in the first period as the Fury took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. Van Drunen then connected on the second, once off a rebound of a Billy Collins shot and then off a face off win by Mark Cadotte, to make it 4-1 after 40 minutes. The Prairie Thunder scored a pair of power play goals in the third, but couldn't get another past Clayton Pool, who finished with 29 saves to get the win.
Saturday back in Muskegon, Bloomington's Don Parsons connected for the natural hat trick in the first period as the Prairie Thunder topped the Fury 5-3. Kyle Kos scored of assists from David Segal and Mark Cadotte to make it 3-1. Jon Booras scored three minutes later to make it 4-1, but Collins connected on a 5-on-3 power play at 12:00 to make it 4-2.
Robin Bouchard scored his 13th power play goal of the season, his 21st overall, to make it 4-3 with just under 4 minutes left. Muskegon then pulled Pool from goal with just over a minute left, but the Prairie Thunder's Rod Aldoff fired one in from just outside his blue line to put the game away for the Prairie Thunder.
The Fury are not 25-21-3-0 on the season. They have 53 points, fourth in the International Hockey League. Muskegon trails Port Huron by one point for third place with four game in hand on the Ice Hawks. The Fury host Fort Wayne on Friday and Kalamazoo on Saturday this week.
CLOSE BUT NO ENCHELADA
The Fury had a chance to move into second place in the IHL with a win Wednesday, but remained in fourth place all week after falling to the Ice Hawks on Wednesday, 4-1. The Fury trail Port Huron by one point for third place with four games in hand on the Ice Hawks.
CADDY ON A ROLL
Fury center Mark Cadotte pulled into a tie for the team lead with 31 assist this week. Cadotte had two assists in Friday's 4-3 win at Bloomington, then had assists on all three Fury goals in Saturday's home loss to the Prairie Thunder.
MILESTONES WATCH
With one goal this week, Robin Bouchard is now one goals away from 450 in his Muskegon Fury career. He is also 14 goals shy of 600 and eight points shy of 1,200 for his career. Bouchard notched his 450th career assist for the Fury Friday at Bloomington. Philippe Plante passed 100 assists for his Fury career with his assist on Friday at Bloomington, and is 17 points shy of 300 for his career. Kyle Kos is two assists away from 100 for his professional career. Mark Cadotte is 11 assists away from 300 for his career and 15 goals shy of 200 for his career.

Muskegon Fury athletic trainer Kyle Tigner and equipment manager Andrew Oliver will join broadcaster Matt Tjapkes on the Fury Hotline show tonight. The show airs live from Cuti's Sports Bar and Grill on the corner of Seaway and Laketon in Muskegon and on West Michigan's 94 K-Rock (94.1 FM) from 7-9 p.m.
