BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Billy Bagron and Craig Macdonald each had two assists to lead the Bloomington PrairieThunder to a 3-1 International Hockey League victory over the Dayton Gems before 2,081 people Wednesday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

The victory was the fourth in the last five games and solidified the PrairieThunder's hold on fourth place over Dayton in the standings with an 18-15-2-4 record (42 points). Dayton's record dropped to 17-20-3-1 (38 points). The teams meet again Friday in a 7:45 p.m. game at Dayton.

Jamie Carroll got Bloomington on the scoreboard first with 4:190 remaining in the first period off assists by Jon Booras and Macdonald. Zac Pearson extended the PrairieThunder advantage to 2-0 with 49 seconds left in the first period on assists by Bagron and Macdonald.

Dayton closed the gap to 2-1 with 5:26 to go in the second period on assists by Corey Couturier and Joe VanCulin. Bloomington's Brett Holmberg then scored the final goal of the game just 1:26 into the third period on assists by Jason Lepine and Bagron.

The PrairieThunder owned a 31-22 advantage in shots with Sebastian Dahm earning the win in net. Neither team scored on power plays. Bloomington had six and Dayton four.
