New York Power News Release

New York, NY - The New York Power and New York Road Runners (NYRR) continue their unique relationship for a second year as the professional women's soccer team enters its third season. The two organizations will continue to work together on marketing related issues while also bringing the relationship of soccer and running closer together.

As part of the relationship and to coincide with the Power's pre-season training regimen, the team will participate in New York Road Runners' 20-mile relay, set for Sunday, March 23rd. The team will compete against each other, in groups of four, with each team member completing a five-mile segment.

In addition to the competition, the Power team and coaching staff will be on hand to host pre-race warm ups for all the participants, meet with the race runners in a post-race autograph session and help NYRR staff during race registration. All entrants to the race will also be able to take advantage of a special ticket promotion, where runners who participate in the race will be able to redeem their race numbers for a free ticket to the Power's April 19th home opening game.

"As a member of NYRR, I have always enjoyed their first class preparation and execution of events. They are a worldwide entity and we are very proud to have a continued relationship with such a tremendous New York institution," stated Power General Manager Susan Marenoff.

"I have long admired the stamina and speed of soccer players as they continuously run up and down the field during games. Having the NY Power players run in our relay continues the close relationship between the two organizations," said Mary Wittenberg, Executive Vice President of NYRR.

The New York Power is one of eight professional women's soccer teams that make up the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA), the world's premier women's soccer league. 2003 New York Power tickets remain the same price as last season ($25, $20, $17) and the addition of a $10 ticket with the use of a 10 ticket voucher "Power Pack".
