Arizona Sundogs News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ - Three power play goals, including two by Jeff Hazelwood, were the difference on Wednesday night as the Arizona Sundogs topped the Quad City Mallards by a 3-2 final at Tim's Toyota Center.

Hazelwood's second goal proved to be the game-winner after tipping in David Nimmo's slap shot from the right circle. Nimmo finished with a three-point night recording a goal and two assists.

John Snowden had knotted the game at 2-2 when his centering pass from the corner bounced off the skate of Sundogs goaltender Scott Reid and in the net just 3:33 into the third period.

Reid finished with 23 saves for his seventh win of the season.

Jake Riddle and Eric Giosa both finished with two-point games for the Mallards.

The Sundogs took a 2-1 lead with back-to-back power play goals in period two. Nimmo buried a rebound at the right side of the crease just 1:55 into the frame for his seventh of the season. Nimmo then setup Hazelwood for a one-timer in front midway through the period to score his seventh of the season. JP Chabot picked up an assist on both goals.

Riddle scored the only first period goal to give the Mallards a 1-0 lead.

The Sundogs finished 3-for-7 on the man-advantage. Quad City went 0-for-6 despite holding the CHL's third-best power play unit entering tonight's game.

Arizona wraps up their home stand this weekend with a pair of games against the Tulsa Oilers. Friday's contest is set for 7:05 PM MST puck drop. Chino Valley native and "The X-Factor" Finalist Drew Ryniewicz will be on hand to meet with fans prior to the game.
