Bradenton Marauders News Release
Tampa, Fla. - The Marauders (16-9) faced Tampa (9-16) on Friday night at Steinbrenner Field in game four of the six-game series between the two Florida State League West Division foes. The Marauders were able to ride another solid start from Pirates 2022 first-round draft pick Thomas Harrington, who was supported by a powerful performance at the plate from the Baby Buccos on their way to a 7-6 victory.
The Marauders are 9-2 in a game that they homer in, and they would pick up two on Friday evening. The first blast of the game was a solo shot from Alexander Mojica, his second of the season to give Bradenton a 1-0 after an inning and a half of play.
The Trapons responded with a two spot in the bottom half of the inning when they drove in a run with an RBI double and solo homer off the bat of Omar Martinez to give Tampa the 2-1 lead after a pair of innings played.
Bradenton tallied a run in the top of the third thanks to a Jared Triolo RBI knock that scored Deivis Nadal to re-tie the game at two runs a piece. The level game would be short-lived as Tarpons rallied and pushed one across in the bottom of the third to give themselves a 3-2 lead after a third of the game had gone by.
The fifth innings would be the decider in the game as the Marauders hung five on the board. The first run of the frame scored on an RBI double from Jared Triolo, who finished the night 2-4 with 2 RBI. Rodolfo Noalasco collected an RBI double as well to shoot the Marauders ahead 4-3. The most significant moment of the inning and the game was Shalin Polanco's three-run blast that put the Marauders up 7-3 heading into the game's back half.
Tampa would continue to chip away at the Marauders' lead in the later innings and eventually cut their deficit to just one run heading to the bottom of the ninth. Julian Bosnic would squash out the comeback effort on the way to collecting his third save of the season and a 7-6 win for the boys in black and yellow.
Thomas Harrington got the win on the night to push his record to 4-0 in five starts this year. The right-hander struck out five as the Marauders remained a perfect 5-0 in Friday night games this season.
Bradenton can clinch the series Saturday night at 6:30 with JP Massey on the mound.
