TONIGHT'S MATCHUP

Kingham: Allowed 3 R on 6 H with 4 K and 1 BB over 5.0 IP in 4/27 Loss vs. SAV (6-2 Gnats)

Gillingham: Allowed 2 R on 5 H with 7 K and 0 BB over 6.0 IP in 4/27 Win @ LWD (7-3 ASH)

POWER REPLAY: West Virginia split a doubleheader with Asheville split on Wednesday, falling 6-3 in game one and winning game two 5-3. The Tourists used a five-run third inning in the first game against Zack Dodson to secure their sixth straight win against the Power this season. In the nightcap, West Virginia got five solid innings from spot starter Mike Jefferson and backed him with five runs of support in his team-best second win of the season.

TEN DONE THEN DONE: West Virginia's game two win last night snapped a ten-game road losing streak. The Power hadnot won a road game since April 6 and are now 2-11 away from Appalachian Power Park this year.

HAPPY TO SEE US: West Virginia and Asheville are meeting for their third series already this season. Asheville has won six of seven games so far and holds a 35-24 mark against the Power all-time. The Power are 11-15 all-time at McCormick Field.

STREAKS EXTENDED AND STOPPED: Dan Gamache and Willy Garcia each extended their respective hitting streaks in game one Wednesday before going hitless in game two. Gamache's streak reached eight with a hit in his only game one at bat, but was 0-4 in the nightcap. Garcia's streak was at six after game one thanks to his third home run of the season, but was held hitless at 0-3 in game two.

HANSON'S HIT PARADE: West Virginia's longest current hitting streak now belongs to Alen Hanson at five straight. The middle infielder leads the South Atlantic League with a .411 average thanks to having reached by at least one base hit in 23 of his 26 games this season. Of those 23 games, Hanson has 16 multi-hit contests and had a league-best 16 game hitting streak from April 9 through April 26.

LAUNCHING LONG BALLS AGAIN: West Virginia hitters had knocked 11 home runs over the first 11 games of the season before delving into a homerless drought spanning eight games. Over the last seven, however, the power game has reemerged with five home runs. West Virginia is now tied for sixth in the league with 16 home runs.

DOUBLEHEADER DISH: Half of the teams in the SAL have now played at least one doubleheader this season. Asheville is the only team that has been involved in two.

OUSTANDING ORLANDO: Orlando Castro's five innings of relief Monday was the longest such outing this season by any member of the Power bullpen. In fact, West Virginia's starting pitchers have only tossed more than five innings on six occasions this season in 26 chances.

PROMO UPDATE- MAY 10: The Power will host their first Thirsty Thursday Concert Series on May 10 at Appalachian Power Park. Rubber Soul, a Beatles tribute band, will perform immediately following West Virginia's series opener against the Charleston RiverDogs.

POWER POINTS: Greg Polanco has appeared in 25 games this season, tied for second most on the club, but has not yet reached in any game on a double. He is, however, tied for third with seven extra-base hits... New Method will perform a post-game concert on May 11 during Faith and Family Night... Former Power pitcher Jameson Taillon was named the Florida State League Pitcher of the Week on Monday for his effort from April 23-30 (1-0 over two starts with a 0.00 ERA and 10 strikeouts).

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh lost 12-3 at St. Louis. AJ Burnett gave up 12 runs over 2.2 innings in the loss... Indianapolis knocked off Norfolk 3-1 ... Altoona outlasted Erie 11-8. Matt Curry homered for the second straight day... Bradenton walked off with a 4-3, 11 inning win against Charlotte.
