TEAM NOTABLES
In the team's first-ever Juneteenth theme night game, the New York Liberty (7-7) were defeated by the visiting Chicago Sky (8-7), 72-92.
Chicago led from start to finish in the Liberty's first home game since June 3. New York finished on 42.6% (29-68) shooting from the field, 21.4% (6-28) from beyond the arc and 72.7% (8-11) at the free throw line.
New York totaled 19 team assists, 32 rebounds and 9 blocks, just one shy of the team's season-high of 10 in the first outing against Chicago on May 23.
The Sky outscored the Liberty in the paint by four points, 48-44.
Up Next: On Thursday, June 24, the New York Liberty will take on the Chicago Sky again in the team's annual PRIDE game at 7 PM ET at Barclays Center on YES Network.
PLAYER NOTABLES
Betnijah Laney led all Liberty scorers with 18 points on 58.3% (7-12) from the field, 80% (4-5) from deep, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds against her former team.
Jazmine Jones recorded 11 points in 24:54 minutes off the bench. Jones shot 62.5% (5-8) from the field, and 50.0% (1-2) from three while adding 5 boards.
Sami Whitcomb added 10 points and 6 rebounds, her fourth game in double figure scoring over the last five contests.
Kylee Shook shot 75.0% (3-4) from the field and connected on 66.7% (2-3) from beyond the arc for a total of 8 points. Shook also added three rebounds and two assists.
Sabrina Ionescu totaled 6 points and team-highs of 8 rebounds and 7 assists.
Candace Parker led Chicago in scoring with a season-high 23 points on 56.3% (9-16) shooting from the field, 75.0% (3-4) from three, and 100% (2-2) from the line, along with a game-high 12 rebounds.
