
Portland Signs Flyers Richardson to 10-Day Contract

GREENVILLE, S.C., March 2, 2007 -The Portland Trail Blazers signed forward Jeremy Richardson to a 10-day contract from the NBA Development League's Fort Worth Flyers, the team announced today. Richardson is the 14th Gatorade Call-Up of the 2006-07 NBA D-League Season. There have now been 82 total callups since the D-League began play in 2001-02.
The 6-7, 190-pound rookie signed two 10-day contracts with the Atlanta Hawks on January 27 and February 6 of this season. He played five games with the Hawks, averaging 1.6 points and 3.8 minutes. In 19 games (18 starts) with the Flyers during the 2006-07 season, Richardson posted averages of 17.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists. He shot 45.0 percent (134-298) from the field and 36.8 percent (21-57) from three-point range.
Born in Allentown, Penn., Richardson played college basketball for two years at Delta State University where he started all 31 games his senior season and averaged 17.8 points and 5.0 rebounds. He was named First Team All-Gulf South Conference following both his junior and senior seasons. He played his first two collegiate seasons at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Miss.
