Lin's late hit gives 'Dogs 4-3 win over Erie

Williams Jerez earns his second save of the year

Portland, Maine - Tzu-Wei Lin delivered an RBI single in the seventh inning to score Jordan Procyshen and the Sea Dogs (27-30) defeated the Erie SeaWolves (29-30) 4-3 on Saturday night at Hadlock Field. Portland has won three straight games.

Procyshen led off the seventh with a leadoff walk issued by Myles Jaye (1-5). Danny Mars failed to drop a sac bunt and struck out, but during his at bat Procyshen advanced to second on a wild pitch. Jairo Labourt entered the game for Erie, and Lin greeted him with the game-winning hit.

Williams Jerez closed out the game to earn his second save of the season, pitching a scoreless eighth and ninth.

Each team plated two runs in the first inning. Gabriel Quintana clubbed a two-run homer off of Trey Ball (ND) for his 14th home run of the season to make it 2-0 Erie. Then in the bottom of the first, Cole Sturgeon delivered a two-out, two-run single off of Jaye to tie the game 2-2.

The Sea Dogs took their first lead of the game on an RBI groundout from Josh Tobias to score Danny Mars in the fifth inning.

Erie responded in the top of the seventh on a sac fly by Dominic Ficociello off of Jake Cosart (2-2). Cosart earned the victory, allowing one run in 1.2 innings of relief.

Ball allowed two runs on six hits in 5.1 innings, walking four and striking out four. Jaye went 6.1 and allowed four runs on seven hits with one walk and six strikeouts.

The series continues tomorrow afternoon, first pitch at Hadlock Field is scheduled for 1:00 PM . RHP Taylor Grover (1-1, 6.48) starts for Portland vs. LHP Tyler Alexander (3-4, 4.53) for Erie. Tickets available at seadogs.com or 207-879-9500.
