Porter, Zephyrs Take Down River Cats, 6-5

METAIRIE— Colin Porter was 2-4 with a home run and two runs scored to lead the New Orleans Zephyrs (53-44) to a 6 to 5 victory over the Sacramento River Cats (60-38) on Sunday Night at Zephyr Field.

With the game tied at 5 in the eighth inning, Porter led off the inning with his seventh home run of the season off River Cats reliever Roy Smith. Kirk Bullinger pitched a scoreless ninth for his 15th save of the season. Brandon Puffer (5-1) picked up the win in relief pitching 1 1/3 innings allowing only one unearned run. Smith (3-4) suffered the loss.

The Z's collected seven hits on the night as Porter, Mike Moriarty and Jason Alfaro each had two with Raul Chavez having the other. Chavez also drove in two runs.

The Zephyrs are off for three days for the All-Star Break and return to action on Thursday at 7:05 at Zephyr Field to take on the Oklahoma RedHawks.
