Brockton Rox News Release
The Rox needed contributions across the board in Friday nights win against the Seacoast Mavericks.
Brockton looked poised to come away with a victory from the outset. With Chris Berry on base in the 2nd inning, Trent Turner came to the plate and hit a soaring 2-run home run to left field that hit the "Shaw's Center" sign above the bullpen.
Two innings later, a two run lead jumped to four. With Chris Berry on base (once again) along with Ishmael Edwards, Porter hit a 2-RBI single.
The Mavericks put a scare in the hearts of Brockton. After the Rox tacked on another run in the 7th, Brockton took a comfortable 5 run lead in to the 8th. But Seacoast did their most damage in the 8th and quickly narrowed the gap.
Multiple wild pitches by Bryce Verplank allowed 1 Mavericks run to score while also advancing Jeremiah Adams and Kyle Vesnesky. Back-to-back RBI's by Marshall Gei and Michael Hart allowed the Mavs to put up 3 runs in the 8th and close the gap to two.
Ben Porter delivered the next half inning to push the Rox past Seacoast. Once the first two batters of the inning (Berry and Edwards) reached base and were in scoring position, Porter delivered once again with another 2-RBI single to stretch the lead to 4, and take a commanding 7-4 lead.
The final score would stay the same as Dan Rajowski struck out the side in the bottom of the 9th to capture the 2nd straight win for Brockton.
The Rox (11-10) play once again tomorrow night, this time on the road against the Marthas Vineyard Sharks (7-13). The Rox return to Campanelli Stadium Monday as they take on the Sharks once again. First pitch is at 6:35. Come enjoy your Brockton Rox in action and enjoy $2.00 Pearl Hot Dogs!
