Sioux Falls Storm News Release
Hes Back! He is one of the most accomplished players in the history of the Sioux Falls Storm. As a defensive back, he holds records as the Storms all time leader in interceptions, pass breakups, field goal return touchdowns, field goal return yards and he is second all time in tackles with 359.5 in his career. He was a fan favorite from 2001-2007 after he graduated from Augustana College.
The Sioux Falls Storm is extremely proud to announce that Defensive Back, Shannon Poppinga has chosen to once again wear a Storm uniform.
Poppinga will be re-joining one of the IFL?s most stout defensive units. Currently the Storm is second in scoring defense, fourth in pass defense and sixth in rushing defense. The Storm is giving up a mere 179.9 yards per game this season which is good enough for fourth in total defense.
The Storm welcomes Poppinga back, as they prepare for a back to back matchup with the Billings Outlaws. The first game this Saturday will be played in Billings, MT kicking off at 8:05 CST. On June 13 the Storm Shelter will play host to the Outlaws in the second game of the back to back series. Be sure to join your fellow Storm faithful this Saturday at Rookies, to watch the game?s live broadcast from Billings via the B2 network.
