Poor Free Throw Shooting Derails Win Streak

(WINDSOR, ON) The charity stripe was not generous to the Windsor Express this afternoon, as they fell 100-99 to the Mississauga Power at the Hershey Centre on Sunday afternoon.
Windsor (7-2) went 16-for-33 (48.5%) from the free throw line in the loss, including four misses in the fourth quarter.
The loss brings the Express' seven game winning streak to a halt.
Windsor opened up with a 24-13 run in the first quarter before Mississauga (5-3) closed the frame on a 10-2 run of their own, giving the Express a 26-23 advantage after one.
A 44-44 tie brought the game into halftime with Windsor outscoring the Power 34-31 in the third quarter.
But, in the fourth, Mississauga got a jumper from Travis Releford with 4:55 to go in the game to pull ahead 94-92, and held that lead until Windsor's Kevin Loiselle buried two free throws to throw Windsor back in front 99-98. with 28 seconds left.
The Power swung the lead back in their favour with Michael Allison going to the line and knocking down his two free throws and regaining an advantage, 100-99 with 16 seconds left.
Quinnel Brown had a shot at the buzzer but it rimmed out and Windsor fell in defeat for the first time since November 1st.
Tony Bennett had 25 points for the Express, DeAndre Thomas ripped down 11 rebounds to go with his 18 points.
Omar Strong had 20 points for the Power, who won for the second time in their last five games.
Windsor's four game road trip continues this Saturday, December 13 when the Express head to the Powerade Centre and tip off against the Brampton A's at 7:00pm.
The next home game is Saturday, December 27th, also against Mississauga at 7:00pm at the WFCU Centre.
