Hartford Yard Goats News Release
Binghamton, NY- Kevin Kaczmarski's third inning solo home run to right field snapped a tie and lifted the Binghamton Rubble Ponies to a 5-4 win over the Hartford Yard Goats Friday night at NYSEG Stadium. It was Hartford's third straight loss and Binghamton's sixth straight win.
The Yard Goats stranded the tying run at third base in the ninth inning, following a one-out triple by Correlle Prime. A strike out and line out ended the game, as Tim Peterson notched his third save and made a winner of starter Casey Delgado.
After Hartford jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead on an RBI-double by Drew Weeks and a run-scoring ground out by Dillon Thomas, the Mets' Double-A affiliate took advantage of pitcher Luis Niebla's wildness to score four runs in their half of the first. Binghamton tallied four runs, helped by five walks issued by the Yard Goats starter, two with the bases loaded. Niebla was lifted after one-third of an inning as Binghamton batted ten men in the frame.
The Yard Goats bounced back with an RBI single by Omar Carrizales in the second and a game-tying single by Josh Fuentes in the third.
Ashley Graeter led the Hartford attack with three hits and two runs scored. Carriszales added two hits and an RBI.
Game two of the series is Saturday night at 7:05. Righthander Yency Almonte comes off the disabled list to start for Hartford, while Binghamton will pitch Blake Beavan. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and on iHeart radio.
