Saint John Sea Dogs News Release

SAINT JOHN, NB - The No. 1 team in the Canadian Hockey League will be offering playoff tickets for sale to the general public beginning Saturday, March 19th.

Having clinched the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League regular-season title and home-ice advantage throughout the President's Cup playoffs, the Saint John Sea Dogs will open the first round at home on March 25 (7:30 p.m.) and March 26 (7 p.m.)

The remainder of the first-round schedule will be announced shortly after Saint John's playoff opponent is determined. The top-seeded Dogs will face the No. 16 seed in the QMJHL in the best-of-seven opening-round series. The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles hold the spot, but are just two points back of the No. 15 Halifax Mooseheads. The Baie-Comeau Drakkar, at No. 17, are still mathematically in the race as well.

The opening match will feature a special pre-game ceremony in which QMJHL Commissioner Gilles Courteau will present the Sea Dogs with the Jean Rougeau Trophy as regular season champions. Saint John is also in the lead in the race for the Luc Robitaille Trophy as the highest scoring team in the league, as well as the Robert Lebel Trophy for best goals-against average.

Tickets to the first two games of this best-of-seven showdown will go on sale at noon Saturday, March 19th. Tickets are also still available for the final two regular-season contests, as the Sea Dogs look to extend their record 30-0-1-1 home-ice run. Fans are encouraged to wear green to the March 18 game against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles for a St. Patrick's Day Celebration, while the March 20 game against the Prince Edward Island Rocket will be Fan Appreciation Day. Tickets can be obtained by calling the Harbour Station box office at (506) 657-1234, or by visiting www.tickets.harbourstation.ca.
