Round Rock Express News Release

TONIGHT: Tonight is the second game of a four-game series with the Tulsa Drillers, the Texas Rangers Double-A affiliate. Both Tulsa and Round Rock have clinched berths in the post-season playoffs by winning their first half division championships. The Express are currently four games behind first place San Antonio in the Texas League Western Division race with 11 games remaining in the second half. Tonight is McNeil HS night in addition to another "Thirsty Thursday" with ½ price beer and discounted sodas all night. Also, the BABE RUTH TRAVELING MUSEUM comes to The Dell Diamond tonight for a four-night stay. From his early days in Baltimore to his legendary status with the Yankees, celebrate Babe's life in and out of baseball and his greatest moments on the field. Each exhibit panel tells a different story: Ruth's pitching record of 94-46; his 60 home runs in 1927 and 714 career homers; and his legendary "called shot." Visitors will be able to view artifacts like a home run bat from 1927, his school-boy catcher's mitt, a pair of Yankees pinstripe pants, a baseball signed by Ruth and Yankee teammates Bob Shawkey and Lou Gehrig, the last contract offered to Ruth by the Yankees, and the last-known baseball he signed. Also included in the exhibit is the Sports Illustrated trophy presented to his daughter naming Ruth "Baseball Player of the Century."

LAST NIGHT: Mark Teixeira finished 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI to help the Tulsa Drillers defeat the Round Rock Express, 9-4. Teixeira drew a walk and scored in the second inning and drilled his eighth homer of the season in the sixth, a three-run shot. Chris Haas and Roberto Vaz both drove home a pair of runs for Tulsa, which has won four of its last six. Derrick Van Dusen (2-2) allowed a run and four hits over five innings for the relief win. Chris Burke hit a three-run homer in the second inning for Round Rock, which has lost six of its last eight. Darwin Peguero (3-2) gave up six runs, four hits and three walks in 1 2/3 innings for the loss.
