Hawaiian Islanders News Release
HONOLULU â While the Hawaiian Islanders have always been committed to helping kids, the Islanders will be taking it to the next level at the Neal Blaisdell Arena, this Saturday, June 12, allowing kids to be IN the game and help with game operations during the Hawaiian Islanders game against the Central Valley Coyotes.
"You've Got to be KIDding" night, presented by Pizza Hut, will feature kids doing everything from officiating the coin toss to singing the National Anthem. Kids age 12 and under can also get IN the game for free by writing the words "Go" or "Islanders" on their Pizza Hut box top and bringing it to the special window at the Blaisdell Box Office (limit one box top per child).
"I think this week is unprecedented," Islanders General Manager Chris Dey said, "By setting up a way for kids 12 and under to get in free, [it goes] back to our theme of âYou're IN the Game.' This just takes it one step further in a fun, spirited way, and it's a great opportunity to allow the kids to see what goes on behind the scenes, and in front of the cameras and the crowd."
In addition, adults have two other ways to Get IN the Game. Adults who own the popular Pizza Hut Literacy Card, they can get a 50% discount on an adult general admission ticket if they show their card at the Blaisdell Arena. Also, anyone presenting a ticket stub from the 2004 International Exotic Car & Cycle Show, sponsored by JN Automotive, can receive a $2 discount on a general admission ticket.
"The strength of our sponsors is their willingness to get involved and be active," Dey said. "In the case of Pizza Hut, their primary customers are families, and our organization is very supportive of their successful literacy foundation. Pizza Hut also has a popular ongoing in-game promotion for kids, âTouchdowns for Literacy.' The partnership was a natural fit."
To purchase tickets or for group information, call the Hawaiian Islanders office at 53-ARENA.
