Memphis Xplorers News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS- The Memphis Xplorers of af2 significantly bolstered the quarterback position today, acquiring former Tulsa starting QB Michael Wall in a trade.

Wall, who played collegiately at the University of Tulsa, started the season as the leader of the Talons offense. Through seven games, Wall put up incredible numbers, throwing for 37 touchdowns and only four interceptions. His 60.5% completion percentage is eleventh-best in the league, and his passer rating of 114.4 is currently fifth-best in the league.

"Michael Wall has proven in the first portion of this season to be one of the best quarterbacks in the league," said Xplorers head coach Danton Barto. "I think that it's a huge addition for this team to get a veteran quarterback."

Wall, a second-year player in af2, served as the Talons' backup quarterback last year on their championship-winning team. Despite leading his team to an average of 58.5 points per game through his six starts, the Talons went only 3-3, and Wall was replaced by veteran af2 QB Bob Bees.

The 6'4", 210 pound Wall started 11 games during his career at the University of Tulsa, passing for 2,206 yards and 13 touchdowns in 26 total collegiate games.

The Xplorers acquired Wall as the second half of a trade that took place earlier in the year, when Memphis sent OL/DL Ahmad Willis to Tulsa for future considerations.

This week the team will spotlight the non-profit organization "First Book". "First Book" provides books to underprivileged children, and receives most books through public donations. Fans will get $2 off any seat if they bring in a new book.

The Xplorers are also honoring "Dads and Grads" this weekend. Dads will have the opportunity to walk out of the arena in a brand new car. Each Dad in attendance can register at the guest services booth prior to the start of the game for a chance to win the Hensley Suzuki Halftime Challenge.

Game time is scheduled for 7:05 PM CST, with pre-game scheduled for approximately 6:55 PM. All sixteen regular season Xplorers football games will be heard throughout the Mid-South on SportsPlus 790 WMC, and worldwide on SportsJuice.com. In addition, all home games will be broadcast on X-Cast, a special in-house radio broadcast designed specifically for the DeSoto Civic Center. X-Cast airs on 107.9 FM, and can be received while in the DeSoto Civic Center by using a walkman or other personal radio. Fans can also watch the Xplorers during selected games during the season on AF2TV.com, which offers live streaming video and audio on a pay-per-view basis.
