Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release

Pittsburgh -- The Pittsburgh Riverhounds have signed forward Jose Angulo to a new two-year contract, it was announced today by chief executive officer Jason Kutney.

The new contract locks in Angulo, the 2013 USL PRO Most Valuable Player and scoring champion, through the 2015 season.

"Resigning a player with Jose's abilities is just a small glimpse into the positive direction this Club is headed," said head coach Justin Evans. "In past years, we would lose a player with Jose's stats to an MLS team or even another team within our own league, and I'm very happy that we were able to keep him in Riverhounds colors."

Angulo joined the Riverhounds for the 2013 campaign and had a standout season as he led the league with 34 points and finished tied for the league lead with 15 goals while adding 4 assists. The first player to score at the new Highmark Stadium, Angulo had a role in more than half the Riverhounds' 36 regular-season goals as he led the side to the USL PRO Playoffs.

"Jose had a great 2013 season for us, capped off with the USL PRO Golden Boot and MVP honors, I look for him to build off of this momentum and have an even better summer for us in 2014" said Evans.

With the signings of Angulo and league assists leader Matt Dallman to contract extensions today, the Riverhounds have solidified their one-two punch for the 2014 season and beyond.
