
Pitton Comes up Big in 4-1 Americans Win

Independence, MO - The Allen Americans made the trek to Independence, Missouri for a rare Tuesday night contest against the Mavericks. This was a makeup game that was rescheduled due to inclement weather from early February.
Missouri opened the scoring, on the power play, when Sebastian Thinel lit the lamp at 5:50 with assists from Mathieu Gagnon and Anders Franzon to give Missouri the 1-0 lead. Missouri held the lead through the balance of the period and outshot the Americans by a count of 16-9.
Allen tied the game in the early goings of the middle frame when Tyler Ludwig fired a rocket from the point for his 16th goal of the season, assisted by Brian McMillin and Mike Berube at the 1:42 mark. The Americans took the lead on Jonathan Lessard's unassisted goal, his 20th goal of the year at 4:59 . Allen then extended its lead to 3-1 on Ben Power's 4th goal since coming to the Americans five games ago, Alex Lavoie and Jonathan Lessard earned the helpers at 12:42 of the second period. Allen held the 3-1 lead at the end of the period and outshot the Mavericks in the period13-12, for a two period total of 28-22 in favor of Missouri.
Allen's Tyler Ludwig notched his 2nd goal of the game and 17th of the year, this time on the power play, with assists from Alex Lavoie and Jonathon Zion at 5:03 of the third period to build the Americans lead to 4-1 where it would stay through regulation. The Mavericks outshot Allen 10-8 in the frame and in the three period total 38-30 but were unable to get more than one shot past Bryan Pitton who put on a stellar performance in the Allen net, stopping 37 shots. With the victory, Allen improves to 29-18-4 and move into a two way tie for 3rd place with Denver in the Central Hockey League standings.
Allen returns home to the Allen Event Center for a two game set against the Arizona Sundogs starting Friday night with the puck drop scheduled for 7:05PM.
