September 1, 2011 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

The Williamsport Crosscutters dropped their series finale to the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, yielding 11 hits in an 8-3 loss at Eastwood Field.

The Scrappers opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, as Jake Lowery's RBI single made it a 1-0 game. Lowery put his team ahead even further ahead in the third with a two-run homer, putting the Scrappers up 3-0. His teammate Jarrud Sabourin followed it with an RBI single up the middle to make it 4-0.

Williamsport managed to cut the lead in the fourth, as Aaron Altherr's RBI single and Harold Martinez's sac fly put the Cutters on the board and made it a 4-2 game.

Mahoning Valley added two runs in the bottom of the sixth to go ahead by a score of 6-2. They did more damage versus the Cutters bullpen in the seventh, plating two runs on two hits and two walks to make it 8-2. The Cutters got one run back in the eighth, but it would not be enough as their four-game winning streak was snapped. At time of writing, the Cutters fall to 1.0 games back in the Wild Card and 0.5 games back in the division.

The Cutters return home Friday to finish the regular season with three games versus State College. Every game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com
