Texas AirHogs News Release

LINCOLN, Nebraska - The AirHogs fell in a pitchers' duel 1-0 Tuesday in Lincoln. Griffin Russell pitched into the 8th frame while allowing just 1 run, but the AirHogs could not break through against Lincoln starter Casey Barnes or relief men Brad Orosey and Evan Reed.

Russell held the Saltdogs scoreless through the 1st 4 frames before Robby Kuzdale, Rene Leveret, and Curt Smith tagged him for 3 straight hits with 2 outs in the 5th. Smith's base hit down the right side scored Kuzdale for the game's only run. He would finish with 3 hits and the game's only RBI.

Offensively, the AirHogs were held to just 2 hits by Saltdogs starter Casey Barnes. The righty surrendered an infield single to Nick Akins in the 5th and a double to Michael Valadez in the 6th. He allowed just 1 man - Valadez - into scoring position while striking out 3 and inducing 2 double plays. He picked up his 3rd American Association win of the season and his 2nd with the Saltdogs.

Russell, despite striking out 3 and allowing just a single tally while pitching into the 8th, took his 7th loss of the season. Brad Orosey struck out the side in the 8th, and Evan Reed, who got the win in Game 1 of the series, picked up his 12th save of the season by once again firing a scoreless 9th.

The AirHogs (20-32) and the Saltdogs (29-22) conclude the series tomorrow at 6:35. RHP Sam Martin is expected to start for the AirHogs. A live radio broadcast of the game will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.

The team returns to Grand Prairie July 19th to begin a series vs. Wichita and will return to Amarillo for a series vs. Gary beginning July 28th. Tickets are available for both series. Further information can be obtained on airhogsbaseball.com or by calling 817-343-0729.
