Pirates Release Angeli from PTO

Portland, ME - The Portland Pirates today announced that forward Darik Angeli has been released from his Professional Tryout Contract.

Angeli, a 6-foot-3, 198 pound right wing from Lakewood, Colorado, played his first Pirates game on November 4 on the road against the Utica Comets. He sustained an injury in that game and has been unable to play since.

Prior to signing with the Pirates, the 25 year-old rookie played three games with the ECHL's Manchester Monarchs. Before he turned pro, Angeli played four seasons of NCAA Division I Men's Hockey for the Ohio State University Buckeyes.

Angeli will rejoin the Monarchs in time for their home game tonight at the Verizon Wireless Arena against the Norfolk Admirals.

The Pirates' road trip will continue tonight when Portland plays the first of a two-game series against the Hershey Bears from the Giant Center at 7:00 p.m. "Voice of the Pirates" Jeff Mannix calls all the action, beginning with the Pirates Pregame Show, Served by Dunkin Donuts, at 6:40 on the WPEI Portland Pirates Radio Network, Presented by Napa Auto Parts, on 95.9 and 95.5 FM.

The Pirates return home to the Cross Insurance Arena for two games on Black Friday Weekend against the Utica Comets on Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28 at 7:00 p.m. Saturday night's game is the Pirates' Annual Teddy Bear Toss Game. Bring a new stuffed toy to the game and throw it on the ice when the Pirates score their first goal. All donations will go to the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital.
