WORCESTER, MA - Massachusetts Pirates are bringing back wide receiver Darren Carrington II for the 2022 season.

The 6'3", 215 lb. wideout played in nine regular-season games for the Champions of the Indoor Football League and caught 11 passes for 101 yards with three touchdowns. His most productive outing for the champions of the Indoor Football League came in a 34 - 26 setback against the Spokane Shock at Phoenix Field at the DCU Center. In that game, Carrington set season highs in receptions and yards as he had five catches for 37 yards and a touchdown.

In the IFL playoffs, Carrington appeared in two games and helped the Pirates win the United Bowl with one reception for four yards in the 37-34 overtime victory over the Arizona Rattlers.

Before joining the Pirates, Carrington signed with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League and was a member of their practice squad. Prior to joining CFL, Carrington attended the 2018 NFL Combine and signed as an undrafted free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in August, spending the preseason with the team before being released as part of the final cuts prior to the start of the regular season.

During his collegiate career, Carrington played three productive years at Oregon and one season at the University of Utah. In 2017 at Utah, he played in 12 games and made 70 receptions for 980 yards (averaging 14 yards per catch) and six touchdowns earning second-team All-Pac 12 honors for the second time in his career. Before transferring to Utah, he was a two-time All-Conference selection at Oregon over 33 games and caught 112 passes for 1,919 yards with 15 touchdowns. In 2016, his junior season, he started eight of 12 games with 43 receptions for 606 yards and five touchdowns and was the Ducks leading receiver. In 2015 he started five of the seven games in which he appeared, catching 32 balls for 609 yards and six scores, and was second-team All-Pac 12.

He burst onto the scene for the Ducks in 2014 as a redshirt freshman, seeing action in 14 games making one start, and finished the season with 37 receptions for 704 yards and four touchdowns. Carrington was a standout in the Rose Bowl, (the National Semi-Final game) catching seven balls for 165 yards and two touchdowns of 56 and 30 yards from Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Marcus Mariota in a 59-20 win over Florida State. The Ducks were defeated by Ohio State, 42-20 in the National Championship game.
