Yakima Valley Pippins News Release
Yakima Valley completed a three-game sweep of two nonleague opponents on Thursday, beating Northwest Star 8-2 and heading back into league play with some momentum.
The Pippins used two four-run innings en route to the victory.
Beck Maguire drove in a pair of runs, including a sacrifice fly in the second and a single in the sixth.
Rece Allensworth, from Yakima Valley College, made a spot start for Yakima Valley, striking out one and allowing just two hits and a first-inning run. Devyn Hernandez picked up the win for the Pippins with three shutout innings of work. He struck out five while allowing a hit and a walk.
Owen Egan had an RBI single and scored a run in the sixth.
The Pippins look to ride the momentum as they head back into West Coast League play Friday evening in Ridgefield. The first game of the three-game series against the first-place Raptors begins at 6:35 p.m.
