July 13, 2023 - West Coast League (WCL)
Yakima Valley Pippins News Release
Five Yakima Valley pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout as the Pippins beat the Northwest Star Nighthawks on Wednesday at Yakima County Stadium.
It was the second straight nonleague victory for the Pippins. The two teams face off again Thursday at The Orchard before Yakima Valley returns to West Coast League play Friday in Ridgefield.
Maxim Fullerton drove in the Pippins' two first-inning runs with a two-out single. Tommy Eisenstat, who finished 2-for-4, plated the team's run in the seventh.
Wyatt Adams started for the Pippins, striking out three and walking two while scattering two hits. Joey Harmon relieved for two innings, before Julian Taudin-Chabot, Evan Hamberger and Owen Egan each pitched an inning. Combined, they struck out nine Nighthawks and didn't allow a runner beyond second base.
It's the second time this summer that Pippins pitchers have tossed a combined shutout; the other coming in an 11-0 win over Nanaimo on June 27.
