Yakima Valley Pippins News Release

VICTORIA, British Columbia - A topsy-turvy offense continues to baffle the Yakima Valley Pippins.

After a solid showing Thursday in Nanaimo, in which YV (5-8) plated 13 runs on nine hits, the Pippins' offense went cold Friday in Victoria, as Yakima Valley struggled to maintain stability and fell to the HarbourCats 12-2.

The woes overshadowed a solid performance from Dylan Bishop, who was making his second start of the season. The Whitworth right-hander gave up just one run - a homer in the third - and two hits through five innings before a defensive miscue in the sixth allowed Victoria to score three runs.

Victoria (10-3), which knocked out 17 hits in the game, put the contest away with seven runs in the seventh.

Tommy Eisenstat was 2-for-5, including a two-run double in the ninth for the Pippins' only runs. He extended his hitting streak to five games.

Game 2 of the series starts at 6:35 p.m. Saturday.
