
Pioneers Sign Cesar King

The Elmira Pioneers have signed catcher Cesar King who has played previously in te Rangers, Royals and Reds organizations. The Pioneers also released catcher Kyle Perry and shortstop Bobby Hill to make room on the roster for King.
King hit .286, 2, 12 in 12 games with the Royals AAA club in Omaha last season. He spent 98 and 99 with the Rangers AA club in Tulsa batting .222, 3, 29 in 90 games in 1998. He hit a career high 11 HR's in 1999 batting .227 with 45 rbi's in 1999.
He had been hitting .206, 1, 3 in 12 games with the Reds AA club in Chattanooga this season.
King makes his Pioneers debut tonight as he is in the starting lineup against the Adirondack Lumberjacks at 7:05.
