PITTSFIELD- The Berkshire Black Bears got 6 strong innings out of starting pitcher Brian Gouin before losing momentum. Gouin and Jackals starter Jeremy Callier each gave up only 3 hits and 1 run through 6. In the end it was timely hitting by the Jackals that made the difference.
Gouin made it through 7 innings allowing 4 runs, 2 earned, on 8 hits without walking a batter and striking out 3. Matt Bailey came on and threw one perfect inning while striking out 2. Mike Minerva finished the game throwing a scoreless 9th inning and giving up 1 hit.
Offensively, Joe Kerrigan and Ender Gonzalez each had a pair of singles. Ryan Smith, Derond Stovall and Nelson Samboy each had a hit. Samboy has now extended his hitting streak to 11 games.
