Pioneers Select Dance Team Members

Wilkes-Barre, PA -- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers are pleased to announce the new Pony Express dance team has been selected for the 2003 season. 13 women were selected from the 30 who auditioned February 1st at Pocono Downs. Five co-captains who were chosen from last year's squad will lead the team and be responsible for all choreography.

"We had an excellent turnout," said Pony Express co-captain Ivelise Flores. "A lot of great performers showed up. It was difficult to pick the team members from so much talent."

"All the young ladies who tried out were fantastic," said General Manager Rick Sneed. "And the co-captains did a great job."

The 13 new dance team members were chosen based on personality, poise, athletic ability, performance, flexibility, and rhythm. The 19 members of the 2003 Pony Express dance team are:

The primary role of the dance team is to perform before and during all Pioneers home games. They will also participate in other team functions, as well as charity events and personal appearances. Fans may view pictures of the dance team tryout by visiting the team website at www.wbspioneers.com.
