Pioneers Rematch Conquest

Wilkes-Barre, PA- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers will be hosting the Albany Conquest on Saturday, June 11th at 7:30 PM at the Wachovia Arena in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Both teams are coming off wins in week 10. The Pioneers defeated Albany 57-34 in week 3 at Albany, NY

The Pioneers returned home this past weekend with a 38-24 road victory over the Green Bay Blizzard. The Pioneers had previously lost at home to Green Bay in week 5, 48-40. Kyle Rowley, Thomie Venisee and Rocco Forgione captured game honors as Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Ironman of the game, respectively. Jurron Kelly ran back four kick off returns for 77 yards, in place of injured JR Thomas, finishing the game with 114 yard.

"This game was a big win for the team," said Head Coach Les Moss. "We are looking to carry this momentum through the rest of this season."

The Albany Conquest defeated the Bossier-Shreveport Battlewings 68-53 in week 10. The Conquest victory was the first home win this season and the first victory for recently appointed Head Coach Pete Costanza.

Pioneers' individual statistic leaders include David Davis who is ranked 4th in Scoring (Kicking), 5th in Field Goals Made and PAT Kicks Made. Despite missing last weeks game, JR Thomas is ranked 3rd in All-Purpose Yards, Kick Returns and Kick Return Yards. Kyle Rowley is ranked 4th in Passing Yards per Attempt; 5th in Pass Completion Percentage and Passing Touchdowns. Jamie Hattley is ranked 3rd in tackles with 64.0 and 6th in Passes Defended. Ronnie Kaymore is ranked 7th in tackles with 50.0.

This week's game is "School's Out Night" to celebrate the ending of the 2004-2005 school year. Wilkes-Barre Area School District Superintendent, Dr. Jeffrey Namey will be the honorary captain.

The Pioneers will begin a long road trip of four away games in five weeks. All of the Pioneers away games can be heard on WILK 980 AM with commentary by local radio personality Rob Neyhard. The Pioneers will be returning home to face the Albany Conquest for the third time this season on July 23rd at the Wachovia Arena at 7:30 PM.
