June 7, 2005 - arenafootball2 (af2) News Release

CHICAGO - Albany quarterback D BRYANT, San Diego offensive lineman/defensive lineman ASI FAOA and Oklahoma City defensive specialist JEROMY FLOWERS have been named the Offensive Player, U.S. Army Ironman and ADT Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for Week 10 of the 2005 season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Bryant (6-3, 305, Duke), in his second season, had a hand in all 10 touchdowns for Albany in their 68-53 victory over the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings. Bryant completed 26-of-37 passes for 336 yards (career high) and eight touchdowns. He also rushed seven times for 14 net yards and two touchdowns. His eight passing touchdowns matched a franchise record and all were of 10 yards or more. Bryant's shortest touchdown pass, of 10 yards, may have been his most important. He found Manwell Talbert with one second remaining in the first half to put the Conquest up by two possessions. Bryant then led Albany to a touchdown on the first possession of the second half to give the Conquest a three-possession lead at 40-23. This is the first weekly award for Bryant. The last Albany player to win a weekly honor was Travis Coleman in Week 5 of this season. Coleman earned the ADT Defensive Player of the Week Award.

U.S. ARMY IRONMAN OF THE WEEK

Faoa (6-4, 280, UCLA), in his rookie season, helped the San Diego Riptide defeat the Bakersfield Blitz 59-54 for the first time this season. Faoa recorded 3.0 sacks for a loss of 22 yards while forcing and recovering a fumble. He also broke up one pass. After taking handoffs only three games ago, Faoa rushed three times for 20 yards and one touchdown. Faoa's 10.5 sacks ranks second in the league. Faoa's forced fumble and fumble recovery came on the opening kickoff of the second half. This is the first weekly award for Faoa. The last Riptide player to be honored with a weekly award was Nakoa McElrath, who also earned Ironman of the Week in Week 9 of last season.

ADT DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Flowers (6-0, 200, Arkansas), in his second season, has earned the ADT Defensive Player of the Week honors for his contributions in Oklahoma City's 59-35 win over Rio Grande Valley. The former Razorback recorded 6.0 tackles (5UA-2AT) to lead the 'Dawgz defense. He also intercepted two passes, recovered a fumble and registered one pass defended. The Yard Dawgz defense forced seven turnovers and Flowers had the first and the last. He recovered a fumble on the Dorados' first offensive play and intercepted a pass on the Dorados' last offensive play. His other takeaway came in the middle of a 26-0 scoring run in the second half.
