The Pioneers closed out their holiday weekend with an 8-5 loss to the Watertown Wizards. After the Pioneers jumped out to a 5-1 lead, the Wizards chased Pios starter Mike Kazley with a 5 run 3rd inning. Adam Davis relieved Kazley and threw 5 shutout innings to keep the Pioneers in the game. The Pioneers had their chances leaving runners on base in each of the last four innings, 11 total. David Bishop hit his league leading 6th HR and had 3 RBI's and Justin Lacy knocked in his league leading 25th RBI to lead the Pios offense.
The Pioneers return to Dunn Field on Tuesday July 5 for the start of a two game series against the Albany Dutchmen. Tickets are available in advance from Jubilee Foods at 2898 westinghouse Road, Horseheads.
