Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers News Release
(Wilkes-Barre, PA) The defending American Conference Champion Pioneers took strides to bolster their 2008 roster with the assignment of LB/FB Darius Leak and WR/DB Titan Mann.
The highly decorated Leak was a BASN Black College 2006 pre-season All-American, was named to the CDS Division I-AA Preseason All-American Team and was on the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference All-Conference first team finishing his career with the Morgan State Bears as one of the school's top linebackers ever.
The 6'2 240 pound Leak used his unusual combination of speed and size to lead the MEAC with 93 tackles (43 solo) after finishing second in the conference with an impressive 117 tackles (66 solo) as a junior.
Coach Ingold expects big things from him, "Darius is a guy who had an outstanding college career, making plays all over the field. He was a great sideline to sideline backer who plays nasty. Our kind of guy!"
The Pioneers have also been assigned 6'1 188 pound WR/DB Titan Mann. Mann was a track star for the very successful Southern Oregon Track Team. He was extremely impressive at a Philadelphia Soul tryout where he caught the eye of Pioneers owner Cosmo DeNicola, Head Coach Rich Ingold and his staff," We came away very excited about Titan, an amazing athlete, with the sky being the limit for his stardom."
The Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton Pioneers will be kicking off their seventh season in the arenafootball2 league with the start of the 2008 season. Season tickets for the Pioneers 2008 season are now on sale! For more information call (570) 970-4232 or visit the Pioneers Web site at www.wbspioneers.com.
