Pioneers And Phantoms Renew Rivalry
June 2, 2010 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Western Mass Pioneers News Release
LUDLOW, Mass.,-6/2/10 - All long-time Pioneers and Phantoms fans remember the epic clashes the Pioneers and Phantoms engaged in. Since 1998, when the Pioneers entered the USL, the biggest game of the year was when the Phantoms came to visit. Games ranged from defensive battles to routs, but the fans knew the players would leave everything on the field.
After a two year lull, the rivalry renews. The Phantoms will be visiting Lusitano Stadium this Saturday, June 5th at 7:00 for the first match of the year between these two clubs.
Currently, the Pioneers sit in third place with seven points from five games played. The Pioneers earned all points on the road, which they have been on since their home opener on May 15. New Hampshire is in fifth place with five points. A familiar face on the Phantoms is Adrian Dubois, who played for the Pioneers last year.
Also, the Pioneers will be helping out the Indian Orchard Survival Center. Discount tickets will be available for donations. Please visit www.wmpioneers.com for more information.
