Florence, KY - The giant pink egg discovered at the home of the Florence Freedom November 30th has hatched a few controversial ideas from the leaders of the organization.
Florence Freedom Owner Clint Brown unveiled today a unique and borderline offensive plan for the egg. Brown has made no secret of his plan to offer more premium and signature concession stand items. It keeping with his mission, Brown has proposed an egg-salad sandwich which would be offered at Freedom home games in 2008.
"When life gives you lemons, you need to make lemonade. In our case, when a giant egg is left on your doorstep, mix it with mayo and make a sandwich," Brown said. "I think this is our opportunity to give Freedom fans a unique choice at our concession stands, much like the Gateway Grizzlies did a few years ago with baseball's best burger."
Freedom Account Executive Kyle Gehring fully supports the plan, and has offered to begin the search for a giant boiling pot and egg-slicer. "Who doesn't like a good egg salad?" he said. "The thing is 5 feet tall, weighs a ton, and is just taking up space. Let's use the darn thing."
Not all Freedom staffers think this idea will fly. Stadium Operations Director Zach Prehn, who has spent countless hours sitting on the egg, doesn't want to see it do anything but hatch. "I've put too much time into helping whatever is inside this thing for us to just crack and cook it. I for one think believe that whatever is in there deserves a chance at living it's life".
Brown is convinced that this is a golden opportunity for the organization. "Our fans have shown that they are not your typical baseball fans. Our fans are unique and deserve a unique food item to enjoy and call their own."
Until the staff can come to a consensus about what to do with the giant egg, it will remain in The Bank of Kentucky Florence Freedom Gift Shop to be kept warm.
