July 24, 2011 - Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL)
Newark Pilots News Release
On Monday, July 25 at 7:05 p.m. the Newark Pilots will host the United States Military All-Star team in a special exhibition game as part of the "Road to Ground Zero Flag Tour."
The Heroes of the Diamond began their tour at the start of the new year. They have traveled all across the country with the Ground Zero Flag, allowing citizens to honor and touch the flag. It is the same flag that flew during former President George W. Bush's "Bullhorn Speech" following 9/11. The Heroes will end their tour in New York City to present the flag for the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy this September.
Members from every branch of the military and first responders make up the Heroes of the Diamond roster. They were originally founded in 1990 to promote "Awareness and Support of our brave Armed Forces and First Responders."
A pregame ceremony will be held and at 9:11 p.m., the game will paused to present the flag on the field in honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11. Following the game, there will be a fireworks show.
