(Allentown, PA) - Lehigh Valley catcher Tuffy Gosewisch singled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning and the IronPigs beat the Charlotte Knights by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday from Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA.

The Knights and 'Pigs went to the bottom of the ninth with the game tied at 4-4. Reliever Brian Bruney (0-2, 2.08) began the ninth inning and got into trouble early on. Bruney walked Hector Luna to begin the inning. Then, with Mike Fontenot at the plate, Hector Luna moved to second base on a wild pitch. Fontenot then laid down a sacrifice bunt and moved Luna to third base with just one out in the inning.

Three batters later, Gosewisch ripped his first hit of the game and drove home Luna for the victory. Lehigh Valley (15-11) scored a run in each of the final three innings of Wednesday's game to beat the Knights for the second day in a row.

Charlotte (13-14) did get off to a good start on Wednesday. They jumped out to a two-run lead in the top of the fourth inning when designated hitter Josh Phegley hit a two-run single off 'Pigs starter Dave Bush. Phegley was 2-4 with two RBIs on the afternoon.

One inning later, the Knights added to their lead with another two-run inning. With Jose Castro on first base after a one-out single, Greg Golson tripled, which scored Castro from first. Golson ended up scoring on the play as well when shortstop Andres Blanco made a throwing error. The Knights were ahead by 4-0 at that point.

Eric Stults started for the Knights and allowed just two runs on four hits over seven innings. Stults did not factor in the decision and is now 1-1 with a 2.20 ERA on the season.

Lehigh Valley reliever Jake Diekman (1-0, 0.73) got the final out in the ninth inning to earn his first win of the season. He recorded a save in Tuesday's win over the Knights.

Charlotte and Lehigh Valley will continue their series on Thursday with game three. RHP Charlie Shirek (3-2, 4.40) will get the start for the Knights, while RHP Austin Hyatt (2-2, 3.12) will get the start for Lehigh Valley. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from Allentown, PA.
