Pigs Take Series in Toledo
July 22, 2018 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
After dropping game one in Toledo the Pigs rattled off three straight wins to take the series from the IL West leading Mud Hens. Tallying eight hits in the game, the Pigs took the finale 5-3 in Toledo.
The IronPigs used the long ball and defensive miscues by Toledo to take the finale. The Pigs built a 3-0 lead in the forth against Jacob Turner (1-3). A fielding error and a sacrifice fly by Logan Moore padded the 1-0 lead for Lehigh Valley.
Jacob Waguespack (2-5) allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings in the game for Lehigh Valley. Waguespack allowed six hits and struck out seven against the Mud Hens offense. Waguespack has now won his last two starts after beginning the season 0-5.
After the Mud Hens plated a pair of runs off Waguespack in the bottom of the fourth to make it 3-2, Collin Cowgill homered to put Lehigh Valley up 4-2. Cowgill, who drove in the first run of the game for the IronPigs finished with a pair of RBIs.
Dean Anna and Zach Green each finished the ball game with two base hits; Joey Meneses extended his team high hitting streak to 12 games with a single in the fourth. Dylan Cozens scored a pair of runs for Pigs in the win.
Jake Thompson came out of the bullpen to toss 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn a hold. Thompson did not allow a hit and struck out two in the outing. Pedro Beato (25) recorded his IL leading 25th save to close out the road trip for Lehigh Valley.
